Day 17 – 12 January 2013. Bus trip Ushuaia to Punta Arenas.

Up and at em early, breaky at 6.50 then off to check out and catch taxi to bus. Bus Sur Co. All good.

We have travelled through mountains then into coastal area of Tierra del Fuego fuel and a loo at Tolhuin. Seeing many Carachos and a few Guanacos. Many beef and sheep. Some gas plants.

Another big town, maybe San Sebastian – drove past some ‘oil nodders’

We have completed immigration papers and customs declarations for entry back into Chile. Two bus drivers on board and bus is possibly half full, quite comfy really.

Took 90minutes to 2 hours to get through Argentinean border, followed 15 minutes later by customs/immigration at Chilean border patrol.

Finally arrived at Punta Arenas about 7.30pm, walked 3 or so blocks to hotel, feels like coming home, we actually know where we are.

Booked into Cabo de Hornos again, 7th floor this time with great views of the harbour area.

Did our washing and then a quick supermarket trip before returning to Hotel Restaurant for a simple meal and hopefully early to bed. Blogged a couple more days – now only 10 days behind. Off to sleep after watching Four weddings and a funeral at 11.00.

Breaky view on last day in Ushuaia.

Leaving...bus shots, apologies for the reflections.

Driving up through the mountains.

Big mountains.

Our ticket back to Punta Arenas.

More of the countryside...beef and sheep.

One of the towns, not sure which.

Very military around South America.

A guanaco silhouette.

Shearing shed.

Our bus getting onto the Ferry - not much clearance.

Back in Punta Arenas, these dogs are just sooo relaxed.

Shackleton is big here, this is where he came to get a boat to get back for his crew on Elephant Island.
