Happy 18th to Ryan – wow driving and all else
that goes with 18. Hope it was a great day.
Today we chose the easy option - 8.30 breaky, 10.00 departure – ended up
after 11 due to buses and drivers, but no hassle we did a short interpretative
hike with Carly from Wales just near the Eco Camp. Then onto the bus for a
drive to the Sarmiento gate and 2 hour hike thorugh the Steppe to Lago Armaga
and some native rock paintings. Lots of flowers, insects, birds, a condor HEAPS
of Guanaco and two Grey foxes. Upon we return we have a 45 minute bus ride to
the Blue Lagoon, where we enjoyed a fully catered Asado (BBQ) with heaps of
beef, snags, chicken, salad, rice etc. followed by fruit salad and cream. The
wind blew up here so bike riding was in doubt. However we did ride downhill
mostly to the Paine waterfall on the Paine river.
The bus brought us back to Eco Camp for a shower and cool
coke in the patio area, where we were eventually joined by the 7 day hike group
– after their day 3, they have walked 42kms, with another 22 to go tomorrow. It
was beautiful relaxing in sunshine before cocktails and nibbles followed by
another delicious dinner, some flower identification and bed.
